European Center for Digital Rights, Ad hoc Paper V0.2, 29 March 2020

Corona Tracking under GDPR

On 29 March 2020, the noyb – European Center for Digital Rights has published its "Ad hoc Paper (V0.2) SARS-CoV-2 Tracking under GDPR" presenting the legal requirements for virus tracking systems. This Ad hoc Paper provides a general overview of the minimal GDPR requirements and possible compliance strategies.

In the foreword , the chairperson of noyb, Max Schrems, points out two aspects that should be borne in mind:

  • The Ad hoc Paper "is not a policy document and does not make any political assessment of different tracking approaches. It also does not attempt to assess which processing operations would be necessary from a medical or statistical perspective."
  • The noyb intends to update this paper over the next days and weeks. The latest version of this Ad hoc Paper will be available at noyb.eu.
